The consumer and whānau advisory service at Rotorua Hospital advocates for people using mental health and addictions services.
Service users and their whānau can provide feedback on their experience to our advisors. This helps us to ensure a high quality mental health service that meets people's needs.
Consumer advisory group
The consumer advisor runs a consumer advisory group to make sure people with lived experience of mental health problems or addiction are involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health and addiction services.
It also aims to improve service users’ knowledge of their rights and expectations of mental health and addiction services in the region.

Whānau advisor
Mental health and addiction services work best when they include whānau and provide access to services that support their wellbeing.
The whānau advisor actively promotes input from whānau into mental health and addiction services. They work to ensure whānau are included, consulted and supported at every step of a person’s mental health or addiction journey.
