Social workers provide assessment, counselling, information provision and complex problem solving for people experiencing:
- emotional stress experienced as a result of changes in health
- grief and loss associated with health changes, and changing roles
- relationship issues, such as carer stress, changing roles and family dynamics
- child protection
- older adult or vulnerable adult abuse
- cultural support
- advocacy and support
- complex social problems impacted by on-going health issues.
Social workers can help with referrals to community resources and services. They can also provide information on accommodation and housing, finance, benefits and legal issues.
