General Medicine
The General Medicine service covers a wide variety of medical illnesses, such as those affecting the lungs, heart, brain and kidneys, that do not require surgery. A number of sub-speciality services are provided either in-house or via visiting speciality clinics. These include:
- Medical Oncology
- Cardiology
- Diabetes
- Gastroenterology
- Respiratory
- Neurology
- Nephrology
- Rheumatology
- Dermatology (provided in Christchurch).
Inpatient Services consist of:
- 24 bed Medical ward – multidisciplinary secondary level inpatient unit which provides ongoing assessment, investigations, diagnosis, stabilisation and treatment.
- 7 bed CCU/ICU – provides multipurpose level 2 unit for treatment of the critically ill patient.
- A medical investigations unit provides diagnostic services (see MIU homepage).
