Inpatient Unit

The 14 bed inpatient unit, or ward, is situated at the eastern end of the Kensington facility.

A team comprising of Registered Mental Health Nurses, a Social Worker and an Occupational Therapist are there to assist with the recovery process for those who are experiencing a severe mental health issue requiring intensive treatment. They also support the TACT team after hours.

The unit is staffed around the clock to ensure that people's well-being is regularly monitored and urgent admissions can be accepted.

Visiting people in the Inpatient Unit

Visiting hours are normally between 2pm and 8pm.  Please check with the nurses' station just inside the front door when you arrive to ensure your family member or friend is accepting visitors. If you have a genuine need to visit patients outside of normal visting times, please contact the nurses' station on 03 687 2161  to see if this is possible.

To support patient confidentiality, we ask that no cameras or recording devices be used on the ward by patients or visitors.
