Statement Regarding Temuka Family Practice

In July, 2007, the South Canterbury District Health Board declined an application by the Aoraki Primary Health Organisation on behalf of Temuka Family Practice for increased funding for Temuka Family Practice's enrolled patients in the 25 to 44 year age group.

This decision, and statements issued in relation to this decision, was the subject of legal proceedings commenced by Temuka Family Practice against the South Canterbury District Health Board and the Aoraki Primary Health Organisation.

Temuka Family Practice, the South Canterbury District Health Board and the Aoraki Primary Health Organisation acknowledge that the contractual documents governing this issue of increased payments were open to differing interpretations and all parties have sought to resolve the present dispute to promote the interests of affected patients.

Temuka Family Practice, the South Canterbury District Health Board and the Aoraki Primary Health Organisation are pleased to announce that as of 1 March, 2011, Temuka Family Practice will receive the increased funding for the 25 to 44 year age group and its patients in this age group will be able to access services at a reduced cost where applicable.

In relation to any previous statements issued by the South Canterbury District Health Board regarding Temuka Family Practice and this matter, the South Canterbury District Health Board apologises for any adverse views taken of Temuka Family Practice (including its principals, staff and patients) from these statements, or anything published as a result of these statements. It was never the South Canterbury District Health Board's intention to cause any such adverse views to be taken and the Board apologises if this occurred and for any distress this may have caused. Temuka Family Practice is a valued part of primary health care in South Canterbury.
