New Primary Care Appointment
South Canterbury DHB has appointed Fiona Pimm to lead the newly-created Primary and Community Services division.
Fiona will move from Christchurch to take up the role of general manager from July 19. She will be based at the Community Health Centre at Woollcombe Street.
The new role of “General Manager, Primary and Community Services” has been created to manage primary health services following the disestablishment of the primary health organisation.
“I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead this new primary and community service model which has been developed locally and is a first in the country,” Fiona says.
“This is an opportunity for South Canterbury to truly develop local services that meet local needs and expectations. I am also really looking forward to moving home to South Canterbury.”
Fiona was the first general manager of Pegasus Health, a role she held for five years. She has also been the practice manager at Papanui Medical Centre in Christchurch and was the Chief Executive of He Oranga Pounamu for approximately nine years. She presently works as a team leader for Planning and Funding at Canterbury District Health Board.
Fiona has also been a member of the SCDHB board for nearly nine years. She will resign from the board before starting in the role of general manager, effectively moving from governance to an operational role.
Chief Executive Chris Fleming says Fiona’s appointment will be significant gain for health services in South Canterbury due to her experience and proven track record, along with her very clear understanding of good governance practices.
